This Was Never About Basketball is a fictional Young Adult coming-of-age story of redemption and friendship, as seen through the eyes of Ezekiel “Zeke” Archer, a well-intentioned but troubled teen. Compelled by his passion for basketball, Zeke overcomes extreme odds and triumphs in the face of his biggest challenge — saving the game of basketball for all of humanity. The novel contains elements of magical realism and embraces unifying social themes that transcend differences and focus on the foundational qualities of basketball — teamwork, integrity, respect and choosing to do the right thing.
